The New Year Cometh!

Here it comes!  Duck!

Yes, before you know it the New Year will be here, and we're well on our way to preparing for it.

New officers have been elected!  Nolan is our new President.  Josh is VP.  Trevor is submitting to another term as Treasurer.  And I (Jim G.) and continuing as webmaster and taking on Event Coordinator.

New Calendar is being set! Most of our meeting dates are on the calendar, and many other events have been placed on there as well.  Know about a brewing related event?  Use the B-mail link on the left side of this screen to send the info to the event coordinator. You can look forward to a couple field trips this year, the first being in April, so watch for that meeting date to be updated and mark it on your calendar.

New members everywhere!  We have had a nice influx of new members!  Some are brewing for the first time and starting slow. Some are brewing for the first time and not even resembling slow. And some have been brewing and winemaking for years and are now finding they enjoy the company of our club.  We welcome them all and look forward to tasting their new brews!

Reminder About Rolodex! Just a reminder... if you are a club member, there are several things we would like you to do on the website: First, create a login account and validate it using the email that it will send to you. Second, use the B-mail link at the left to send a message to the webmaster letting him know who you are, what login name you selected, and that you are a member of the club so we can mark you as a member and get calendar reminders out to you. Third, when logged in, click on the Control Panel link in the upper-right of this screen, go into the Rolodex, and enter your contact information and address. ONLY MEMBERS can see what you enter into the Rolodex, so the info is safe. This is the only way members can find out where you live when you host a meeting. We don't post addresses on the calendar to protect your privacy.

It's not even January 1st, and we are already off to a great start!!! Remember to watch the style schedule (under Meetings on the menu) for a list of upcoming styles, and get brewing in time to have them ready for meetings.  Hops to it everyone!

2012 Club Meeting Dates Now On Calendar

Posted by MBCAdmin

Posted on 15:33, Tuesday, November 15

The club meeting dates for 2012 have all been placed on the calendar.  Some dates have been moved from the normal "last Friday" schedule to avoid holiday weekends or school vacations.  If you see any dates that you think might conflict with something major, please let the club Event Coordinator know right away.

Most club meetings have not had a location set yet. If you would like to host a meeting, let the Event Coordinator know when and where.

Happy brewing Mountain Homebrewers!

2nd Annual Lake Arrowhead Brewfest planning update

The 2nd Annual Lake Arrowhead Brewfest is coming up and I’d like to get the beer flyer and work schedule done by Wednesday. Please take a moment to email me the following:

1)      Name of your beer

2)      AHA style or category (IPA, etc.)

3)      The beer ABV

4)      A short description of the beer

As I put together the tap schedule I want to be as careful as possible to not have the same style beer on at the same time. It’s super important that I have this information. Thanks so much. J

The way this is coming together is that each club member donating beer will work our club tap for an hour, pour for another brewery for an hour, and then have two hours free to socialize and try beers. The only people who won’t be rotating is Jim Baumann, because he’s the only one allowed to switch out kegs on the club setup that B3 is allowing us to use, and Jim Grant, who is doing the brewing demonstration all day. When I have everyone’s beer information I’ll be able to put together the rotation. I do have non-club volunteers for some of the schedule pouring for the breweries only.

The planning committee will be at Tavern Bay at 11am to start general setup. It would be helpful if you could be at Tavern Bay between 11:30-12:15 to help get set up so you’re ready when the gates open.  We will also need some assistance at the end to dismantle. It’s not very complicated or heavy to do, but as the saying goes, many hands make for light work.

Please encourage your friends and family to purchase tickets ahead of time, as they will get a $5 discount as opposed to buying on site. There will be a credit card machine at site for people who purchase at the gate and don’t want to carry cash.

If you haven’t already checked out the event website, you can review it at www.lakearrowheadbrewfest.com .

We spoke briefly of having a ‘mystery table’ of bottled beer (basically odds and ends that we’re trying to get rid of). If you are planning to contribute to that table, let me know how much. If there isn’t enough to fill a party bucket, we’ll save it for another time.

I think that’s it. If you have any questions please let me know, and remember – if you don’t see a club member on this email list, please forward it to them asap.

Thanks so much!
